According to BP Statistical Review of World Energy that was published June 2018, 71.8% of the world’s proven oil reserves are located in OPEC Member Countries, with the bulk of OPEC oil reserves in the Middle East, amounting to 65.36% of the OPEC total according to OPEC statistics.

According to BP Statistical Review of World Energy, the world total proved oil reserves for 2017 stands at 1696.6 billion barrels. Around 1218.8 billion barrels is located in OPEC members countries, and 477.8 billion barrels are located in non-OPEC countries.
